Bummeln in Windsor

Gestern war ich mit Anca und Anisa nach der Uni in Windsor ein wenig bummeln. Windsor ist ein malerisches Städchen circa 10 Kilometer von hier. Und natürlich bekannt für den bescheidenen Familiensitz der Royals - Windsor Castle. Her Majesty the Queen - oder "Slizzy Lizzy", wie wir sie liebevoll nennen, war sogar zuhause. Jedenfalls wehte die Flagge über dem Anwesen

Anisa wohnt direkt um die Ecke in Ascot und wollte uns endlich mal die nähere Umgebung zeigen. Wir sind einen kleinen Umweg über Ascot gefahren, vorbei an den bekannten Rennbahnen. Für Ascot gibt es kein besseres Wort als: Posh! Oder auch Porsche, die fahren da nämlich auch zuhauf rum. Dagegen kann Egham mit seinem Ferari-Händler nicht anstinken.

Einkaufspassage im alten Bahnhof

Windsor selber hat eine schöne Fußgängerzone mit vielen kleinen Cafés und Boutiquen. Der alte Bahnhof wurde in eine schmucke Einkaufpassage umfunktioniert. Wir haben uns ein nettes Café ausgesucht und erstmal gegessen. Das beste an dem "Café": es war eigentlich ein Süßigkeitenladen. Auf jedem Tisch lag eine Karte mit allem erdenklichen Süßkram.

Während wir auf das essen gewartet haben wir ein paar Fotos gemacht:

Danach sind wir dann noch ein wenig an der Themse entlang geschlendert. Und haben noch mehr Fotos gemacht. Das absolut beste war aber, als ich mit Anca ein Foto vor Windsor Castle machen wollte: Asiaten sind einfach zu klein

Das hat aber auch seinen Vorteil: so passt mehr vom Schloss aufs Foto :-)

Sehr cool. Windsor ist echt schön. Ich war leider nur einen Abend dort, habe dort aber die bisher beste Steinofenpizza gegessen die ich kenne.

Hmm, das ist ja jetzt schon einige Jahre her. Von der Lage her würd ich sagen dass es Pizza Palace war. Wir waren nämlich mit einem Hausboot auf der Themse unterwegs und haben abends in Windsor angelegt. Auf jeden Fall müssten die dann einen echten Steinofen haben. Wenn Du nochmal da bist kannst Du ja nachschauen ob ich recht hatte. So viele Pizzerien wird es in der unkittelbaren Nähe auch nicht geben. Man bin ich neidisch, dass Du da in der Nähe bist. ;)

Hey Nicole, vielen vielen Dank für die Info. Bin heute oder Montag vermutlich nochmal in Windsor. Dann werde ich mal nachsehen :)
Mit einem Hausboot auf der Themse unterwegs? Jetzt bin ich neidisch! Wobei, zurzeit hat die etwas Hochwasser und sieht ziemlich matschig aus. Aber im Sommer stell ich mir das sehr schön vor. Wenn ihr damals in Windsor angelegt habt, seid ihr unmittelbar bei mir vorbeigeschwommen. Ist wirklich eine sehr schöne Gegend.
